A split-system
utilizes separate or "split" evaporator and condensing
sections for the air conditioning system. The evaporator section,
or air handling unit, is typically located indoors at the
floor or ceiling level. Larger systems may require roof-mounting
and can be designed to cool, heat, provide Type X, Y, or Z
pressurization, and chemical filtration when required.
All units
may also be marked with the US and Canadian Class I/ Zone
system upon request (example: Class I, Zone 2, group
IIB+H2).
CSA (C/US) Certified from
1-1/2 to 20 tons for Class I, Division
2, Groups B, C, D hazardous (Classified) locations,
split-system air conditioners and heat pumps can be furnished
with auxilliary blowers, motorized dampers, electric heat
(in air conditioners), thermostatic controls, and many other
features to satisfy customer needs in heating, cooling, humidity
control, pressurization, etc. Options include stainless steel
cabinets and coil coating for corrosion prevention.
IEC
Zone 2 - Split-system air handlers
and condensing units can be designed for use in IEC Zone 2
hazardous areas. Although they do not bear the CE mark
as required for installation in the European Union, they are
intended for use in other countries that prefer the IEC methods
of protection. These air conditioners are certified to conform
to Zone 2 requirements by Marc Climatic Controls and all applicable
Certificates of Conformity will be provided for components.
These air conditioners are not for installation in North America.
